Italian activity and ticket platform, part of the TUI group

The most comfortable choice for anyone who wants to book Venice entirely in Italian, as long as the product they want is in the catalogue.

Pros

  • Italian throughout: interface, product listings and support
  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead on many activities
  • The TUI group behind it, with real solidity and structured refund procedures
  • Descriptions written by people, not machine-translated as on other marketplaces

Cons

  • A narrower Venice catalogue than the international competitors
  • Less last-minute availability in peak periods
  • Few niche experiences and few private tours

Musement is an activity and ticket booking platform born in Milan and now part of the TUI group. In Venice it has neither the widest catalogue nor the lowest prices, but it has two qualities that matter more than everything else to a certain kind of traveller: it is built in Italian, and in most cases it lets you cancel without penalty.

What it is and how it works

The company was founded in Milan in 2013 by a group of partners with backgrounds in the cultural sector, to solve an unglamorous problem: buying museum tickets from your phone instead of queueing. In September 2018 it was acquired by TUI Group, Europe's largest travel group, which folded it into its experiences division under the TUI Musement brand.

The model is a hybrid. On one side the platform sells entry tickets directly, obtained through agreements with the venues, the way a reseller would; on the other it distributes tours and activities from third-party operators, the way a marketplace would. The audience is not limited to TUI customers: anyone can buy from the site without having booked a holiday with the group.

Belonging to a listed group has one practical effect worth noting: refund procedures and complaint handling follow structured corporate standards, which counts in Venice when a tour falls through because of bad weather or a transport strike.

What it sells in Venice

The Venice catalogue covers the middle of the market well and thins out at the edges.

  • Tickets for the main monuments. The Doge's Palace, St Mark's Basilica, the Campanile and the civic museums, with priority-entry formats where the venue offers them.
  • Guided tours in the city. Walks around San Marco and Rialto, evening tours, food routes. The choice is respectable but smaller than on the big marketplaces, and Italian-language departures are well represented.
  • The lagoon and the islands. Murano, Burano and Torcello, boat trips, day excursions out to the Venetian villas and the Riviera del Brenta.
  • Combos and packages. Formats pairing several attractions, useful if you are seeing Venice in a single day and want all your tickets in one order.

What is missing is the niche end: unusual craft workshops, offbeat themed tours, private guides with a tailor-made route. Anyone after that kind of product will find far more on GetYourGuide or Viator.

Prices and fees

The price on the listing is the price charged: no booking fees or supplements appearing at the last step. That is standard behaviour for the serious platforms in this sector, and it is respected here.

On the commission withheld from suppliers there is no public data. TUI does not publish the percentages applied by its experiences division and the company does not state them: any figure circulating online is an unverifiable estimate, and we are not repeating one.

The comparison you can actually make is on the price lists. For tickets to Venice's major monuments, prices come out broadly in line with the other platforms, with differences of a few euros tied to what is included. Against the official box office, when the venue sells online and has space, the direct price is normally still the lowest: that holds for Musement as for everyone else. The value added here is not saving money, it is convenience and flexibility.

Cancellation and refunds

On activities that allow it, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start, and you can do it yourself from the app or your account area by entering the booking number. The refund goes back to the same payment method.

Exceptions exist and are the usual ones: timed monument tickets that permit no changes, performances, and experiences with very limited places. The condition that applies is written on the product listing, and on this platform it is generally visible before payment rather than buried at the end of the process.

For Venice that flexibility has concrete value. Between November and January, acqua alta — the tidal flooding that hits the city in autumn and winter — can make a route impassable at a few hours' notice, and no platform refunds for bad weather if the service still runs. Being able to cancel the day before, with no explanation, is the simplest cover against that risk.

App, tickets and entry

The TUI Musement app for iOS and Android collects bookings and vouchers, lets you cancel in a few taps and keeps tickets readable with no connection. That last feature is the one that genuinely matters in Venice, where the mobile signal between the calli is patchy and the entrance gate does not wait.

At the entrance the routine is standard: QR code on screen, no need to print. A minority of products require physical collection at the operator's office or an exchange of the voucher at a dedicated desk, and in those cases the listing gives the address and hours. Read them in advance to avoid a wasted trip, because in Venice the exchange desk can be ten minutes of bridges away from the entrance itself.

As on every platform, "priority entry" means a shorter dedicated line, not the absence of a wait: at the Doge's Palace in high season, security screening is identical for everyone.

Customer support

Support is reached through an online form, email and a call centre, with the interface and the support itself in Italian. To open a booking and change or cancel it, where the offer allows, the booking number is enough — no need to reconstruct an account.

The practical advantage over the international platforms sits entirely here: anyone who would rather not argue a refund in English finds a counterpart who speaks their language, and product listings written in Italian rather than run through a translation engine. It is a detail that looks minor until you need it.

The usual division of roles still applies: payments, cancellations and refunds are the platform's job, running the tour is the local operator's, and their contact details appear in the booking.

Trust and user reviews

On Trustpilot the platform scores 4.0 out of 5 across more than 32,000 reviews, with around 62 per cent five-star ratings and a further 22 per cent at four stars. That is a solid profile: the overwhelming majority of experiences end well.

The negative reviews cluster around three recurring themes: payment problems with certain cards, unclear information about how to collect the ticket, and hiccups in voucher delivery. Those are process faults rather than substantive ones, but it is worth checking your inbox straight after buying rather than on the eve of the visit.

The positive reviews almost always reward the same thing: getting into the museums without a box office queue, and how simple the process is. No recurring theme touches ticket validity, which is the most serious risk when buying from a reseller.

Who it suits

It suits anyone who wants to handle everything in Italian, from the product listing to any complaint, and has no appetite for a support conversation in English. It suits anyone who values a structured group standing behind the purchase. And it suits anyone visiting Venice in the low or shoulder season, when availability is wide and a narrower catalogue is not a constraint.

It does not suit anyone after an unusual experience or a tailor-made private tour, because the choice is too tight. It does not suit last-minute booking in August or during Carnival, when the allocations for the main monuments run out sooner than on the bigger marketplaces. And, as with every commercial platform, it is no use for the contributo di accesso (Venice access fee), which is paid only on the Venice council portal.

Verdict

Musement is the platform that makes the least noise and the fewest mistakes in Venice. The catalogue does not impress and the prices beat nobody, but the listings are written in Italian by people, 24-hour cancellation covers most of the offering, and behind it sits a group that processes refunds with real procedures.

It is the sensible choice for booking the main monuments without linguistic complications and with the option of changing your mind. Anyone hunting the hard-to-find tour, the private guide or last-minute availability in high season will get more answers from the international marketplaces, disorder included.

Frequently asked questions

Is Musement legit?
It is a company founded in Milan in 2013 that joined the TUI group in September 2018, so it is owned by one of Europe's largest travel operators. On Trustpilot it scores 4.0 out of 5 across more than 32,000 reviews (September 2026), with around 62 per cent five-star ratings.
How do you cancel a Musement booking?
From the app or your account area, quoting the booking number: on activities that allow it, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start. The exceptions, including many timed slots at the major monuments, are stated on the product listing.
Does Musement add service charges to the price?
At checkout you pay the figure shown on the listing, with nothing added. The percentage the platform withholds from suppliers is not public and no company document states it, so nobody can quote one.
How are Musement and TUI connected?
Musement was bought by TUI Group in 2018 and also trades as TUI Musement, which supplies the excursions sold to the group's package and cruise customers. The Musement site stays open to everyone, with no obligation to buy a holiday from the group.
Is it better than Tiqets or GetYourGuide for Venice?
On entry tickets the catalogue is narrower and prices are in line with the rest; on guided tours the choice is smaller than on GetYourGuide. The advantage is that everything is handled in Italian, plus the flexible cancellation, which counts if you would rather not deal in English.
Do you need to print a Musement ticket?
No. In the vast majority of cases you show the code on your phone screen, and it sits in the app. A few products require collection at the operator's office or an exchange at a desk: the listing gives the address and opening hours.
